Postfix is a high-volume SMTP server created by Wietse Venema at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center. SMTP servers transport email over the Internet. Anytime someone sends an email they are using an SMTP server. Emails sent server-to-server also use SMTP. Postfix can be configured with additional components to reduce spam and viruses.

The REVLY Communication Server installs and configures a fully functional instance of Postfix configured to work with the following components:

• OpenLDAP (User Directory)
• Blacklists (Public Blacklist Servers)
• Postgrey (Greylisting Service)
• Amavisd (Mail Filtering)
• Dovecot (Authentication and Mailbox Storage SASL/LMTP)
• SOGo (Webmail, Calendars, and Contacts)

During the setup of the REVLY Communication Server a wizard gathers information needed to create configuration files to make the various components work together. Below is a brief summary of the questions asked. For a detailed description of the process please view the Installation Guide.
